WEMADE (CEO : Kwan-ho Park) and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Korea (ADRA Korea, Secretary-General : Ik Hyun Kim), an international relief organization, have jointly donated approximately KRW 30 million to the National Fire Agency, fully dedicated to covering medical expenses for firefighters who took part in recent wildfire containment efforts in the Yeongnam region.

The donation was raised through an emergency fundraising campaign launched in April on Wepublic, WEMADE’s blockchain-powered transparency platform. Recognizing the urgent need to assist injured firefighters, ADRA Korea partnered with WEMADE to launch the project. WEMADE contributed KRW 20 million, and ADRA Korea added KRW 10 million. Many individual donors on the Wepublic platform also joined the effort.

A donation ceremony took place at WEMADE’s Pangyo headquarters on Wednesday, May 7, attended by representatives from WEMADE, ADRA Korea, the National Fire Agency, and the Fallen Fighters Survivor Hope Sharing, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the agency.

Ik Hyun Kim, Secretary-General of ADRA Korea, stated, “Taking care of the firefighters who risked their lives on the front lines is essential to helping communities recover and strengthening our overall disaster response. We hope many people will continue to support these firefighters and honor their incredible dedication.”

Min-Jin Lee, Head of Wepublic Center at WEMADE, added, “Many efforts have been made to bring more transparency to social impact work, but technical challenges have often gotten in the way. With Wepublic, powered by blockchain, WEMADE is redefining what transparent and trustworthy giving looks like.”

Recently, WEMADE has worked closely with ADRA Korea and other international relief organizations to provide tangible support to wildfire-affected areas in the Yeongnam region. This initiative is part of WEMADE’s broader commitment to offer sustained aid in response to natural disasters and national emergencies.
